Top Job Search Engines: Why you need to start looking EARLY

The best way to get ready for life after your graduate program is to explore the job market before hand. Many of us go into this mainly for expanding our career opportunities and to reach higher salaries. Word of advice: once in the program, looking for a job will become as job itself.
Tough love ahead (warning): IT. WILL.NOT. BE.EASY.

You've got to pass your classes, look for a job, and maintain some resemblance of having a life. We get it. The best way to get an offer before graduating is to get started with the search early enough. Depending on your program, you may get exposed to different HR managers or company executives themselves at career fairs and other networking events. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY CHANCE YOU GET TO MEET SOMEONE WHO CAN HIRE YOU.  Sending applications online as you may (sadly) have already discovered, is not the optimal way.

Take a look at our top search engines:

  4. Great advice! Internal referrals are always helpful too. Reaching out to anyone (even via LinkedIn) or friends of friends who can get your foot in the door helps. Everyone loves a referral bonus!

  5. I'm certainly biased towards the start up/tech community, but I would suggest adding angel.co to this list. Start ups provide an interesting mix of demand, necessity, and risk that job seekers can really benefit from if they position themselves appropriately.
