Ace Your Admissions Interviews
As you may know, the interview is an important aspect of the for graduate school admission process. A good interview may greatly improve your chance to get an offer. Here are some tips and tricks based on our interview experience!
As far as important aspects of the interview, here are a few to focus on:
The interview for an analytics program is typically held by the Director of the program or whoever is in charge of admissions. You will have an opportunity and talk to them in person or via Skype. The whole process is often more relaxed than you'd imagine, so try not to worry about tricky questions or stumbling through an answer. Just relax and be yourself, as cliche as that is.
As far as important aspects of the interview, here are a few to focus on:
1. Discuss and demonstrate your ability to handle intense school work.There are several challenging classes in these programs, so you'll want to prove that you're up to the task. You may get overwhelmed at times while in the program, so you'll want to discuss your academic abilities and how you handle high-stress situations. Be prepared to answer a question about how you handle test preparation and group work.
2. Show your ability and determination in finding a job. An important aspect of going to school is to find a job and, of course, admission officers are always looking for students who are most likely to get a job offer upon graduation. Be prepared to show that you are prepared to navigate the fiercely competitive job market.
3. Demonstrate an ability to balance school, job hunting, and a social life. These programs are relatively short. The key to surviving is to learn as quickly as possible and manage your time well. Programs are interested in well-rounded students, so be sure to discuss your ability to handle the different demands of a graduate program
4. Show your confidence. Confidence is key to everything you do, from earning your degree to finding a job. Be your most confident self in the interview process!
